Historic Health Care Vote

Unelected Federal bureaucrats are on their way to controlling one sixth of the nation’s economy. That’s the conclusion of many conservatives following the narrow passage of President Obama’s Health Care Plan.

The editors of the conservative National Review Online say, “We are convinced that it will increase taxes, increase premiums, and increase debt, while decreasing economic growth, job growth, and the quality of health care.”

The President convinced a block of pro-life Democrats to vote for the controversial legislation by promising to sign an executive order saying federal funds could not be used for abortions.

Of course, these executive orders don't have the force of law, don't direct the private sector, and can be rescinded by future administrations. Pro-life leaders* point out that "Confirmation that this is a completely meaningless gesture on the president's part is the deafening silence heard from pro-abortion activists and organizations."
